Ask Ainsley…

Hello everybody! I know it has been a REALLY long time since I’ve created a blog post.  It is my senior year in college, and it has been SUPER DUPER busy.  I just recently got asked to create a blog post called Ask Ainsley about all that is beauty. My first question is coming from one of my friends named Chelsea…

BLOGCHELSEA

I also have problems with my oily hair.  The product that I love to use is DRY SHAMPOO. I don’t like to wash my hair everyday because studies show it’s not healthy for your hair.  That is why dry shampoo comes in handy. At the moment, I am using a drug store brand called Psssssst! that I got at Walgreens.

Another old school alternative that I like to use is baby powder! I sprinkle some onto my roots and rub it in, and it causes volume and oil free hair.  I go to the travel section of stores and get the little dollar travel size baby powder. That way it’s easier to squeeze onto your roots, and you can also throw it in your purse.

Do you have any questions that you would like me to answer?

XOXO,

Ainsley

The Bobbi Brown Experience

Hey guys!

Sorry it has been so LONG since my last post. To make up for this, I have decided to write you guys an EXTRA long post about my experience with Bobbi Brown! I have never tried Bobbi Brown products so I set up an appointment in Biloxi, MS with Mrs. Hollie Oliver who is the counter manager for Bobbi Brown cosmetics at Belk.  She gave me what is called a Pretty Powerful Makeup Lesson FOR FREE. The great part about Bobbi Brown is her mission:

“My mission is to help women look and feel their best.  With knowledge, the right products and a few easy steps, any woman can be her prettiest, most confident self.”

-Bobbi Brown

Hollie informed me that these sessions that you set up as a client are not called “makeovers” they are called lessons. There are many lessons that you can take, depending on the time that you have to give to learning about the products.

Lessons:

  • Instant Pretty– 5 minutes
  • Smokey Eyes–20 minutes
  • Classic Eyes–20 minutes
  • Secret to Perfect Skin–20 minutes
  • Everything Brows–20 minutes
  • Pretty Powerful Makeup Lesson–45 minutes (signature, 10-step lesson)
  • Long-Wear Makeup–45 minutes
  • Bridal Beauty–45 minutes

Screen shot 2013-06-27 at 5.26.58 PM <— This is my before/after shot! 🙂

The overall experience was just very refreshing because it was all about finding qualities about yourself that makes you beautiful. Bobbi believes that every woman is beautiful. The natural ingredients of the makeup make them so worth the money, and I loved all of the scents of the facial cleansers, foundations, and powders.  I left with some samples that I got to try. I bought the Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser paired with the buffing grains. I’m telling you that this cleanser is just AMAZING. It washes and removes all of the makeup on my face leaving my skin feeling exfoliated and moisturized.  The scent just smells so fresh and clean. It almost gives off that lavender scent as well, so its a great product to use for your bedtime skin routine.  I recommend that everybody rush out to their Bobbi Brown counter and make an appointment.:

I have been trying the products for a couple of weeks now, and I wanted to get a couple of opinions from my friends.  PLUS they loved to be used as my “subjects” every now and then. 🙂

Here is my friend Ann Marie! We used the following Bobbi Brown products on her face:

  • BB cream in the shade Fair
  • Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in the shade Powder Pink
  • Face Powder in the shade Soft Sand

Screen shot 2013-06-25 at 5.30.55 PM

You can really tell that this small routine with Bobbi Brown products produced a warm and natural glow to Ann Marie’s face. Ann Marie loved the products and thought they gave her face a natural, beautiful look.  Her skin is very sensitive, and these products worked out great for her skin.

My next subject was Grace Claire! I did a quick YouTube video with her.  We wanted to implement Bobbi Brown into a regular makeup routine, so we DID! I hope you enjoy.

Grace had so much fun with this and was amazed by the feeling and the scents of all the Bobbi Brown products.

My personal favorites from Bobbi Brown products is the Natural Finish Foundation and the Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser.

Do you use Bobbi Brown? What’s your favorite product? Let me know if you have any questions.

P1030734P1030721

I got together with the counter manager named Hollie Oliver at the Bobbi Brown counter in the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi, Mississippi. I wanted to know all about the Bobbi Brown line because I have never used their products. Many stars use their line of makeup, and the philosophy and story behind this company is unforgettable. This upcoming series will be all about Bobbi Brown makeup review and my experience of the Pretty Powerful Makeup Lesson that was given by Hollie herself. I ended up spending a few hours at the counter and had a great time, so look for my upcoming series coming shortly.

Let me know your thoughts or questions! Hope you guys are having a great weekend.

My Fashion-Beauty Idol

Hiiii friends!!!

This week is ALL about my fashion-beauty idol. If you guys are wondering where I sometimes gather my inspiration or style, this is the perfect way for YOU as my readers to get to know me a little better.  Then, I want to hear from my fellow readers (especially my beauty blogger friends) who you gather your inspiration from your everyday style.  Today, I will reveal my idol and why she inspires me. And then I will give a makeup tutorial post and a hair tutorial post sometime during the week.

My fashion-beauty idol is no other than the… Ms. Lauren Conrad.

a5695d10d567b2a6863ede00a48a0aba

Lauren Conrad also known, as LC was a part of a reality show in the early 2000s called Laguna Beach.  Then she moved to the Hills showing the beginning of her career and her personal life.  She is now a writer of the novels L.A. Candy Series and The Fame Game series AND has also written two MORE books all about Beauty and Style. Not only is she famous for T.V. and her novels, but she is also a fashion designer for her line called, Paper Crown. And don’t forget her line for Kohl’s. She has worked her way to the top for sure, and not to mention I am OBSESSED with her website LaurenConrad.com.

LC’s style is very classy and girly.  She wears lots of lace, pastels, stripes, and florals.  Most importantly, she likes to dress comfortably yet elegant. She inspires me to follow through with my career goals and to keep my style classy while I am at it.  Her makeup is very simple and not too overdone—more “old” Hollywood glam than anything.

E.L.F. Tinted Moisturizer Review

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Hiiii friends!

It’s been a couple of days since my last post, but I thought I would post a review about this product and hear your thoughts about it.  I was on a budget in Walgreens the other day, and I have been wanting to use a tinted moisturizer for the summer and for a supplement of my everyday makeup routine.  I was searching through the E.l.f. section because they have some pretty low prices, but I also know personally that these products can be hit or miss. I picked up a tinted moisturizer in the shade NUDE to give it a try.  Here is what the package states:

Tinted Moisturizer

SPF 20

with Aloe, Cucumber, and Vitamins A, C, & E

Okay, that’s a lot of good stuff for a very small price… Want to know the price now?

(drumroll please)

$4.49 🙂

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

After getting over the price, my next step was to try out this product.  I won’t lie; I was doubtful to say the least.

Here is a swatch on my skin, so you can see what it looks like outside of the tube.

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

I blended it in on my face, and it blended well with my skin color and made my face feel moisturized like a very light foundation which was EXACTLY what I was looking for in this product.  Not to mention, it has some great perks: SPF, Aloe, Cucumber and vitamins A, C, & E.  I use it in my everyday makeup routine to even out my skin tone and fight against those dreadful UV rays, and I pair it with some powder and blush.  This product worked for me, and I will continue to buy it especially for the summertime.

Here is the finished product:

Has anybody tried this product?

What did you think?

May Favorites

IMG_2514

Hiiiii friends!

It’s that time of the month again for me to do my favorites blog post. Guys, SOOOO much has been going on in the month of May!!! From finishing up my junior year in college, graduations, work, holidays, and sending off my boyfriend to Tupelo for his first REAL job as a news reporter, my life just hasn’t STOPPED. 🙂 After all the changes, there is something that has stayed constant: my love for blogging to YOUUUU GUYS.  With that being said, lets get started with my all time favorites for this month.

Hair

IMG_2411

My favorites for hair products this month would have to be Herbal Essences Volumizing Hairspray. This stuff is my absolute love affair. I have tried so many different hairsprays, and I absolutely LOVE this one.  Not only does it have a very nice scent and great hold, but it also doesn’t leave your hair feeling crunchy. I ran out today and had to run to the drugstore to pick up another can. And that’s right my friends, IT’S CHEAP! I got mine for $3.99 at Walgreens.

Face

My next two beauty favorites for the month of May would have to be:

1. Covergirl’s Clump Crusher Mascara

IMG_2579

I told you guys that I purchased this recently in my ULTA haul blog post, but I hadn’t been able to try it.  The story behind me buying this mascara was that I originally wanted to try out the Rocket mascara by Maybelline, and the cashier lady insisted that I try Clump Crusher before I tried the Rocket.  I took her advice, and I’m so glad that I did take it.  It goes on very smoothly and wet (which I like in a mascara). It separated, lengthened, and volumized  my lashes beautifully.  I also got the water-resistant formula just so it wouldn’t smudge, and it passed the test.

Will I repurchase? YES, YES, YES!

2.  Estée Lauder’s Day Wear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme

IMG_2577

I got a sample of this creme in my Estée Lauder gift this month, and I have been using it as a daily moisturizer before I put my make-up on and after I have washed my face.  It’s great for your skin, and it also contains SPF 15 which is great for a base under your foundation to protect your beautiful skin from the sun. 🙂  It also fights against sun damage and aging skin.  I enjoyed this creme and will repurchase.

Favorite DIY of the month

IMG_2544 IMG_2576

As I was getting my daily dose of all of my YouTube subscriptions, I came across Amarixe’s Beauty Vlog on how to hombre your nails. I thought I would give it a try, and her advice worked. I loved the finished product, and I will do it again to my nails because I think it’s a very cute, unique way to spruce up your normal manicure.

I used the colors Sealed with a Kiss by Sally Hansen, Pink Friday by OPI, Tart Deco by Essie, and Sea by Sally Hansen for the base coat.

Here is Amarixe’s video that I watched! She’s amazing!

Try this nail technique out! I promise you won’t be disappointed. 🙂

Ending Thoughts

FYI: I am so excited! My first VoxBox from Influenster is coming in with new products for me to try out, so look out for that review post mid-June.

Influenster is a site where they send you free samples of products to review. Check it out HERE! You have to be invited to the site, but LUCKY YOU, I have 5 invites to hand out, so leave a comment with your email if you would like for me to email you an invite. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this post! Hopefully, I will be able to film a new video soon.

Question: What are YOUR favorite beauty products from this month?

Love you guys! Thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Ainsley

ULTA HAUL!!!

P1030671

Heyyy friends!

I am just SO excited for today’s post because I got to visit one of my FAVORITE places to shop….ULTA! Lets get started…

NEW EYESHADOW

I have been DYING for a new eyeshadow palette ever since my Sephora one broke. 😦 And the one that I have heard bloggers and vloggers on YouTube rave about is the NAKED palette by Urban Decay.

IMG_2509

I mean it’s just BEAUTIFUL! I am officially in love with this eyeshadow palette. Not only did it come with a brush, but it also came with amazing eyeshadow primer, Urban Decay primer potion.

IMG_2508

I will use pretty much every color whether I’m going out with my friends and I need a darker or more sparkly look OR I can use the more matte, light neutral colors for an everyday look. Like a little kid on Christmas, I couldn’t wait to try this palette.

This is the result:

IMG_2514 IMG_2516

In this picture, I used the colors Virgin, Sin, Toasted, and DarkHorse. The Urban Decay eye shadows blend so well together especially after using the Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base.

NEW MASCARA

I also picked up some new mascara called Clump Crusher by Cover Girl. (The lime green tube in the very first picture.) I am still trying to get a feel for it. Let me know in the comments below what you guys think about this mascara.

My mother on the other hand bought mascara from Benefit called “They’re Real” mascara.

IMG_2534

This is what mascara I’m wearing in the pictures above as well. It LITERALLY makes you look like you are wearing false eyelashes.  I decided to do a before the mascara and after using “They’re Real” mascara picture using my twin sister as a model.

IMG_2528

NEW BRONZER

Lastly, I wanted to buy a new bronzer for the summer time, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money.  SOOOO… I bought my all time favorite, Rimmel Natural Bronzer! I absolutely love this bronzer because it’s not too dark but just enough to warm up your face.

Let me know your thoughts on these products or if you have any questions or suggestions about a new post!

What’s in my bag?

Hiiiiii everybody!

Your purse can truly describe you and your personality.  I love to keep my purse organized (well, I like to try. ;)) There is something appealing at seeing what other ladies carry in their purse.  It’s like a revealing secret or reading a page of a diary. It can tell you a lot about a woman. I think it’s time to show you what I keep in my purse!

purse My purse that I am carrying at the moment is my Longchamp ‘La Pliage’ bag. I received this bag as a gift for Christmas from my mother, and she ordered it with two different colors and my monogram on the leather flap! I love it! It holds just about EVERYTHING. It’s great for school because I can just throw my laptop in there or a notebook along with my other purse necessities.

Let’s get STARTED! This is my reveal when I open it up…..

openpurse

I told you I could pretty much fit my whole entire room in this purse.

Let’s spill the contents…

P1030659

Okay so I’m just going to list/talk about what I have in my bag. (starting from left to right/top to bottom)

1.  I have my iPhone 4s. My most IMPORTANT asset in my purse. For all of my Apple lovers out there, you have the same love affair with your phone. I’m sure.

2.  The next thing I have is my RED Kate Spade wallet that I received for my birthday in March. I love it! I think it’s the perfect size.

3.  My Erin Condren planner comes next in the line of importance. (Blue and green striped notebook with my name on the cover)  This planner has definitely gotten me through my third year in college.  It is LIFE CHANGING. I will not buy another planner. It divides your days up into morning, day, and night and has nice/durable tabs and just a lot of amazing amenities. I will be doing a reveal at the end of the summer of my new Life planner from Erin Condren at the end of the summer.

4.  Next thing that I have in my purse is my pink polka-dotted pill case that just has extra pain reliever or allergy medicine when I am on the go and need something. I believe I got this at TJ Max?

5.  The two pouches that I have contain all kinds of different things that I don’t let float around in my purse.  The orange striped Kate Spade makeup pouch has all of my lipsticks/lip balms, lotions, mascara, and hair supplies.

P1030664

And the green Kate spade pouch contains tech-y products like a charger for my iPhone, extra flash drives, spare keys, etc. AKA items that I DON’T want floating around my bag. I find that it is easier to locate specific items when they are organized in separate pouches like I have them.  It works for me.

6.  Car/Apartment/Mailbox Keys

7.  Sunglasses from Target and hand sanitizer

8.  ON top of my planner, I have my pool access card that gets me into the pool gate at my apartment complex.  I have been using this a lot the past two weeks because it is SUMMER TIME!!! 🙂 I also have a spare pen and my student ID that I have to use for my work.

9.  Next, I have a flash drive.  This comes in handy ALL THE TIME.

10.  Last, but not least, I have a portable size (polka dot) umbrella for those unpredictable summer rain showers.

This wraps up my “What’s in my bag?” post!

What’s in YOUR bag?

XOXO,

Ainsley
